Edge filters, also known as long wave pass (LWP) and short wave pass (SWP) filters, are designed with a high rate of transition between their reflective and transmissive regions. This sharp transition makes them ideal for various applications, such as emission filters in fluorescence, order sorting filters in photometry, and stray light or trim filters to eliminate unwanted near-band radiation.
Constructed with hard, durable first-surface dielectric coatings, Andover's LWP/SWP filters withstand normal cleaning and handling associated with high-quality optical components. These filters use interference effects rather than absorption to isolate their spectral bands.
Unlike filter glass, which does not shift wavelength with angle, our edge filters will shift shorter in wavelength with an increased angle of incidence, allowing for fine-tuning of the 50% cut-on or cut-off wavelength.
Standard edge filters are available in 50nm increments from 300nm to 1000nm, with custom options available upon request.
